Pugs inspire me to draw zentangle art

I get obsessed kinda easily. For example, I am obsessed with my English bulldog, Diesel and in bulldogs in general.

My English bulldog Diesel is the baby of the family.

My English bulldog Diesel is the baby of the family.

I mean, just look at the smooshy face. How couldn’t I be obsessed with him and all things bulldog-related?

This brings me to my new recent obsession with another smooshy breed of dog and that is the pint size pug. I love pugs because they’re like mini versions of bulldogs. They have smooshy faces that are adorned with a wide-eyed stare that melts my heart.

I have some fav pugs I follow on Twitter too.
Spanky the Pug via Twitter

I follow Spanky an adorable pug that makes me laugh with his cute quotes and funny outfits.

Wellington

There’s the Boston pug I follow named Wellington who enjoys long walks, the beach and napping. (He’s basically living my dream)

Hamilton

Hamilton, is a NYC pug with tons of street smarts. He is quite famous and is the host of #PugChat on Twitter on Wednesday nights @ 7 p.m.

So, what does this have to do with art?

I love to join in on the conversation of #pugchat, even though I am not a pug nor own one. I just like meeting new fun accounts on Twitter.

I am also excited to announce that I’m the sponsor for tonight’s #pughchat and will be giving away two Zentangle-inspired pug drawings during the chat hosted by Hamilton.

Here’s a look at the process of my zentangle-inspired drawings.

Starting with the pug head adding patterns with Pigma Micron pens. Added more patterns to fill in the face. Started on body of pug. Working in small sections. Added a focal pattern underneath the pug's mouth. Again, more patterns are added to fill body. The front legs were the last to be filled in.
